Our History
St Nicholas Parish in Walnutport was established in 1974. The history of the parish can be traced back to Nicholas Glasser, a German immigrant who settled in Lehigh Township by 1840. He allowed a small building to be built on his land for the purpose of Catholic worship. The first log church was named for Saint Nicholas and built in Berlinsville by Father Tanzer of Easton about 1840. A small cemetery was located beside the church.

Introducing Our New Pastor: A Brief Overview
St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church is truly blessed to have Fr. Abraham Ha serving as our priest. He began his ministry with our parish community in June 2025.
Fr. Ha’s warm smile and cheerful demeanor instantly make him approachable, and he makes it a point to bring a smile to everyone he meets each day. Renowned for his engaging storytelling, Fr. Ha shares both lighthearted anecdotes and deeply moving stories from his childhood, particularly about growing up during the Communist takeover of South Vietnam.
As a teenager, Fr. Ha spent nearly five years in a refugee camp in the Philippines before eventually coming to the United States, where he and his brother made their home in Reading, PA.
He often speaks with gratitude about the American missionaries and clergy who lived alongside him in the refugee camp. Their dedication and willingness to endure the same hardships—having also left their families behind—inspired Fr. Ha and deeply influenced his decision to pursue the priesthood. He greatly admires their selfless service to others.
